How are canopy tents printed by RUKUevent?
The fact that canopy tents can be printed is no longer news. Also that we care about the highest possible individualization possibilities is certainly known to you. This article is about HOW we print your canopy tents. We explain which printing methods, sublimation, screen or thermal transfer foil printing, are best suited for which print motifs. We will go into the advantages and disadvantages of the different printing techniques and compare them with each other.
1. Sublimation printing
What is this printing technique suitable for?
Sublimation printing always comes into play when it comes to full-surface or photo-realistic print motifs and is possible for the canopy tents of the max and pro lines. For example, you would like to design a side wall with a landscape panorama? Then sublimation comes into play. This technique is also used for coloring in a specific CI color. Furthermore, sublimation printing is suitable for displaying color gradients.

How does it work?
The print motif is printed mirror-inverted on a special paper. The printed paper and the white tent fabric are then brought together in the calender and heated to about 200 degrees Celsius. The heat transfers the dye, creating what is known as the sublimation effect. In this process, the dye penetrates deep into the tent fabric, so that the finished printed result does not have a deviating surface texture. The fabric roll is cut and sewn after printing. One side of the tent fabric always remains white. Sublimation printing is therefore comparable to the printer at your home. In the sun, the print motif shines through. For the side walls, there is the possibility to print two separate fabrics and thus achieve a “double-sided” print or to sew a single-color fabric on the other side.
2. Thermal transfer foil printing
What is this printing technique suitable for?
Thermal transfer foil printing is the optimal solution for displaying logos and lettering on the tent fabric. All canopy tents lines can be printed with this printing technique. Company logos with clear lines, sharply defined lettering and similar can be perfectly implemented in thermal transfer foil printing. Especially for smaller runs, this printing technique is the best choice to personalise your folding tent.

How does it work?
In thermal transfer foil printing, a special thermal foil is printed mirror-inverted with the desired motif. The foil is heated subsequently to approximately 150 degrees Celsius and pressed onto any tent fabric from our standard color palette for 30 seconds. In contrast to sublimation printing, the ink does not penetrate the fabric fibers, but overlays them. Consequently, the converted print motif differs in texture from the tent fabric and can be perceived noticeably.
3. Screen printing
What is this printing technique suitable for?
Similar to thermal transfer foil printing, screen printing is suitable for lettering and simply designed logos with clear lines. This printing technique is available for the canopy tents models max and pro. This method is useful for large runs of the same motif. Both single and multi-color logos can be implemented here, provided that the individual color sequences are clearly separated.

How does it work?
In screen printing, the print motif must be transferred to the screen using chemical processes. In this process, a separate screen is made for each color. These screens are then placed individually on the tent fabric. The printing ink is spread through the screen onto the fabric using a squeegee. All tent fabrics in the standard colour range can be used. The result: a clear, clean print that adheres noticeably to the fabric surface when dry.
